The Hobart Mint manufactures high quality, investment grade products, with intrinsic metal value & as a collectable art form.
We use pure 99.99% silver & gold from LBMA member refineries. Casting gold & silver ingots, rolling them into sheet & ultimately creating the blank metal canvases that are struck with timeless artworks, designed in collaboration with Tasmanian artists.
Designed by Australian coin & medallion designer, engraver & sculptor Tony Dean. The unique reeded edge of our 1 troy ounce bullion coins, is inspired by the ancient Jurassic dolerite tors & columns that are widespread, & dominate much of the landscape, particularly alpine areas of the island of lutruwita / Tasmania.
Dolerite rock forms the iconic columns of the ‘Organ Pipes’ on kunanyi / Mount Wellington that towers behind Hobart, the sea columns of the Tasman Peninsula and the craggy dolerite peaks of the Central Plateau.
